Minecraft Bedrock 26.44/26.45 Hotfix: Every Fix Explained

By SNT Gaming ยท 2026-08-21 ยท updatesbedrockreleaseparentsplayers

What Changed

Mojang pushed two back-to-back Bedrock hotfixes in August 2026, version 26.44 on 14 August and a follow-up 26.45 on 20 August. Both are rolling out platform by platform (Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, Android, iOS, Windows), so don't worry if your device hasn't received it yet. Here's every fix that landed across the two releases:

Why It Matters

Hotfixes like these are small in scope but big in day-to-day impact. The Creative inventory deletion bug was silently destroying players' carefully collected items, especially painful for younger players building large projects. The Android back-button fix removes a jarring experience for mobile players, and the self-hit bow glitch was a real source of confusion in survival gameplay ("Why am I taking damage from my own arrows?!"). Rapid double-hotfix cadence shows Mojang is actively monitoring player bug reports and acting fast.

Java and Bedrock

These fixes are Bedrock Edition only. No Java Edition snapshot or release accompanied this hotfix wave. Java players on 1.21.x are unaffected and don't need to do anything. Bedrock players should watch their platform's store or update notification for 26.44 or 26.45 to appear.

For Server Owners

If you run a Bedrock-native server (Bedrock Dedicated Server / BDS), updating the server software alongside your clients is important so that command behaviour and add-on dimension files stay consistent between server and client. The self-selection command fix in particular changes how non-operator /tell targets are resolved, so any command blocks or scripts relying on the old (buggy) behaviour should be tested after updating.

For Parents

Two of these fixes are especially reassuring from a parenting perspective. First, the Creative mode Shift-click bug was deleting items with no warning, your child's hard-won resources could vanish in a misclick. Second, the non-operator command self-selection change means kids playing without admin rights have a little less surface area for accidentally misfiring chat commands at themselves. Neither fix requires you to do anything; just make sure your child's device has downloaded the latest update.

For Players

Here's the quick version of what's better for you after this update:

If your game hasn't updated yet, give it a little time, platform approvals can take a day or two.

Do SNT Kingdoms Need an Update?

These are Bedrock-only hotfixes, and SNT Gaming kingdoms run on Paper 1.21.11 / Fabric 1.21.4 Java backends with Geyser+Floodgate bridging Bedrock clients. Bedrock client version 26.x is not yet supported on SNT kingdoms, PaperMC, Velocity, and the Via family of plugins have not yet migrated to Mojang's year-based versioning scheme, so 26.44/26.45 clients cannot connect at this time.

This means no server-side action is needed from kingdom owners in response to this hotfix. Your Java players on 1.13โ€“1.21.11 are completely unaffected. Bedrock players who are currently connecting through Geyser should remain on their existing supported Bedrock version until SNT Gaming announces 26.x compatibility. We'll post an update the moment the underlying server stack is ready to support it!
